Giving Tuesday, December 2 - Your Gift, Twice the Impact

Giving Tuesday Logo

On behalf of the Worcester County Library Foundation, we thank everyone who donated on Giving Tuesday from the bottom of our hearts! The $2,000 raised will support the new Pocomoke Library Children’s Porch - a place where the library can hold outdoor programs and provide a space for children and families to read and play. Fundraising for the Pocomoke Library continues and online contributions can be made HERE. We can't wait to open the doors to the new Pocomoke Library.

Upcoming Book Supplier Changes

Attention, patrons! We want to keep you informed about a change that will affect libraries across the country, including ours. One of our long-time book wholesalers, Baker & Taylor, will be closing by the end of the year.

Like many libraries, we've relied on Baker & Taylor to help us bring you the books and materials you love. Wholesalers allow us to get the most value from every dollar we spend, ensuring our shelves stay full for your enjoyment and learning.

Updates to the Library’s Online Resource offerings

As of July 1, we have a few updates to share about the online resources that you can access with your library card:

BookPage - Find Your Next Great Read!

June 2025 cover of BookPage publication

Just in time for summer reading, Worcester County Library is now offering copies of BookPage at each library branch as well as a digital copy. BookPage is a great way to find out about new titles across all genres. The monthly publication includes author interviews and timely, seasonal books. Take a look to find your next read!

Changes to Hoopla and CreativeBug

Hoopla

In order to ensure that Hoopla remains available to you, the collective daily cap introduced in April will remain in place going forward. This means that each day once the collective daily cap is reached, no more checkouts are available for anyone until the count resets at midnight.

Starting June 1, the individual monthly cap of items that each library user can borrow via Hoopla will decrease from 8 to 6.

Seed Libraries

Worcester County Library is excited to announce new Seed Libraries available at the Berlin, Pocomoke, and Snow Hill branches. This service is part of the Cooking up Health: A Nourishing Neighbors Program, a robust diabetes prevention program developed by the Worcester County Health Department. A huge thank you to CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield for funding the Cooking up Health Project for our community.

The Seed Library is a fun – and free – way to try planting your very own garden.

Here’s how:

Service changes to Hoopla, effective April 1

The Worcester County Library will implement a daily spending cap for Hoopla services starting April 1, 2025, due to the increased cost of Hoopla Digital funded by the Eastern Shore Regional Library, Inc.

What this means for you

  • Once the library's daily budget for Hoopla checkouts is reached, no further checkouts will be allowed until the following day.
