ACCOMMODATIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH LOW VISION OR WHO ARE BLIND

Materials for Check Out

  • Audiobooks and Large Print materials are available at all library locations.
  • Two visual aid kits, including a c-pen reader, a dimmable anti-glare LED magnifier, a LED rechargeable book light, and an anti-glare LED 3x magnifier, available at the Pocomoke Branch
  • Children’s Materials
    • Children’s audiobooks and Large Print materials available at all branches.
    • Braille books available at the Berlin, Ocean City, and Ocean Pines branches.
    • Children’s High Contrast board books available at the Berlin, Ocean City, and Pocomoke branches.

In-Branch Magnification Devices

  • A public computer is equipped with Fusion software that offers magnification up to 60x with screen and cursor enhancements and screen reading options at all branches.
  • ClearView+ Speech magnifier available at the Ocean City Branch.
  • One hand-held magnifying glass available at the Ocean City reference desk and magnifying sheets available at the Snow Hill circulation desk.
  • Reading glasses available at the Ocean Pines branch.

Audio Loops

  • Portable audio loop available at all branches.
  • Built in audio loop in Ocean Pines Meeting room.

Sign Language Interpretation

Sign language interpreter available for library-sponsored programs if requested at least two weeks ahead of time. Please contact the library branch where the event is scheduled for more information.


ACCOMMODATIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY IMPAIRMENTS

Worcester County Library is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by making the appropriate structural accommodations for people with mobility impairments to utilize all of its buildings and facilities.  (e.g. accessible parking and accessible entryways to buildings, etc.)

  • Children’s decodable and dyslexia-friendly books at the Ocean City and Ocean Pines branches.

In-Branch Accommodations

  • Children’s sensory kits available at all branches. These kits include noise muffling headphones, weighted stuffed animals, and sensory pads or toys.
  • Sensory cabinet available at the Berlin Branch.

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR LIBRARY EVENTS

  • Built in audio loop in Ocean Pines Meeting room.
