Seed Libraries

Worcester County Library is excited to announce new Seed Libraries available at the Berlin, Pocomoke, and Snow Hill branches. This service is part of the Cooking up Health: A Nourishing Neighbors Program, a robust diabetes prevention program developed by the Worcester County Health Department. A huge thank you to CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield for funding the Cooking up Health Project for our community.

The Seed Library is a fun – and free – way to try planting your very own garden.

Here’s how:

  • A library card will be required to borrow seeds. Library cards are free.
  • Patrons must be at least 16 years of age to check out seeds.
  • Each household can take up to 5 packets of seeds in any 3-month period.
  • Pick out your seed packets.
  • “Check out” your seeds at the circulation desk.
  • Patrons who borrow seeds are encouraged to fill out a brief survey.
  • The Library makes no guarantees about the success of any of the seeds in our collection.
  • The seeds are for planting only. DO NOT EAT.
  • The Worcester County Library is not responsible for seed usage.

Each seed packet includes very basic information about the plant and planting instructions. For more details about each plant, patrons are encouraged to use some of the Library’s gardening resources. A librarian will be happy to help you locate just the right gardening book.
